How to care for your cotton percale sheets

Percale woven cotton bedsheets are durable, smooth textured, and soft to sleep in. Airy, cool, and moisture-absorbent; they will keep you dry and comfortable all night long.

WASHING

Percale sheets are easy to care for. The more you wash them, the softer they get. Use a small amount of laundry detergent, then wash separately, or with similar colours on a cool and gentle setting.

DRYING

Give your sheets a good shake after washing to remove wrinkles, then hang them on the line in the shade to dry. If you prefer to tumble dry your sheets, use a warm setting.

IRONING

You can naturally reduce wrinkles by putting your sheets on your bed when they’re slightly damp. To increase the lifespan of your percale bedding, avoid ironing as much as possible. When ironing you'll want to iron your percale bedding when it’s still damp this makes it easier to smooth out wrinkles.

STAIN REMOVAL

Cleaning stains from your bedding may involve exposure to stronger chemicals than usual. Our suggestion is to use VANISH oxi action for spot cleaning. For less stubborn stains, you can attempt treating them with detergent by rubbing it onto the affected spot until it foams, then allowing it to sit for a few hours. Rinse as usual with cool water until the stains fade out. Before use, it's advisable to test any stain removers in a hidden area to ensure they won't cause discoloration.

STORING

Proper storage is crucial. Avoid direct sunlight exposure, which can cause yellowing. Opt for a well-ventilated closet, almirah, or trunk. Never store your sheets in plastic containers, as they trap moisture and promote mildew growth, nor in cardboard boxes, which may transfer chemicals and acids onto the fabric. Store in fabric bags provided with your bedding.

How to care for your silk pillowcases.

Made from the highest quality, 100% Mulberry Silk. It is regarded as the highest quality silk in the world and has the benefits of being washable, durable, hypoallergenic, and breathable (in addition to having numerous skin and hair benefits.)

Washing

Hand wash in cool water. Use a mild detergent specifically formulated for silk/delicate fabrics or you can also use a tablespoon softener like Genteel or Safewash for washing your silk. Wash silk items separately with like colors. Do not bleach, rub, soak, and never wring your silk. Fill a sink, bucket, or tub with cool, soapy water and soak your pillowcase for 15-30 minutes. Give it a gentle swirl, but be careful not to agitate it too much, as this can damage the delicate fibres. After 15-30 minutes, give it a rinse in cold, clear water.

Drying

If you need to remove any excess water, it's best to wrap your silk in a clean towel and roll it up to remove it. Hang them on the line in the shade or lay it flat to dry. Silk is delicate, so do not tumble dry.

Ironing

If you want a really smooth-looking silk pillowcase, ironing it is one way to make that happen. To get started, set the iron to the lowest heat setting and make sure all the steam settings are off. Turn the pillowcase inside out, place it on a flat ironing board and begin ironing, making sure to use a light touch.

Stain Removal

First, try to spot clean the stain using mild detergent and warm water. Make sure not to rub the stain harshly, or you could damage the fabric of the pillowcase. If the stain is still visible after spot cleaning, you can try soaking the pillowcase in a cold water bath with a small amount of silk-safe detergent. Leave it to soak for about 30 minutes, then rinse it out and hang it to dry.For more stubborn stains, you can use a bit of diluted white vinegar to help remove them. Start by dabbing the vinegar on the stain and letting it sit for a few minutes. Then, rinse the pillowcase with cold water. Always test any cleaning solution on a small, unseen area first to make sure it won't damage your silk.

Storage

Once you’ve washed your silk pillowcases, make sure to store them properly. Place them in a drawer or closet away from direct sunlight, as this will help reduce the chance of fading. Store in a natural fibre storage bag provided with the pillowcase for the best protection.
